Never Mind The Economic Downturn... Work with Macca's!

Nov 04 2008

McDonalds is one of the world's most recognisable brands, yet even this restaurant icon experiences its share of struggle when trying to find the right staff for their stores.

Global economic fears have not shut down the opportunities at McDonalds' but McDonalds Forster on the central coast of NSW is one particular store that is still feeling the effects of such low unemployment in Australia.

However, owner of the Forster franchise, Brian Melick, says the sky's still the limit at Macca's.

The successful candidate will not only enjoy the sandy beaches of Forster, but also a starting salary of $60,000 a year, generous annual leave & superannuation, plus various programs and schemes offered by McDonalds.

"I've been involved with McDonalds for 13 years, run 3 stores, and have found that the people who are successful with us are the ones who are natural leaders, and are smart," said Mr Melick.

So don't be fooled into thinking any pattie-flipper can land this job.

"McDonalds are very fussy about the person required for this role, along with experience, we need someone who has completed all courses run by McDonalds up to store management level." Mr Melick said.

"The successful candidate will be responsible for everything from driving sales, to promotion to profit and loss statements. They will be fully managing the business."

After various unsuccessful attempts to place ads in newspapers to attract applications, Mr Melick has enlisted the help of recruitment solutions provider Employment Office and bluecollar.com.au to put the call out nationwide for candidates.

In 1971, McDonald's Australia opened its first restaurant at Yagoona in Sydney. Today there are over 760 McDonald's restaurants across Australia, serving approximately 1.45 million customers daily.

McDonald's Australia is a franchise business with more than two thirds of all restaurants owned and operated by small business men and women. The company employs 75,000 people across the country.
